Buy and sell signals

Short summary

Each quant portfolio (MOUNT; ARROW, etc) analyzes the stocks of the investment universe that they are assigned to on a daily basis. I.e. for all Germany 100  portfolios these are the top 100 stocks from Germany. The number of buy and sell signals varies every day depending on the market situation. There can be times when you only get buy signals or only sell signals or buy and sell signals on one day.

When a quant has advised to buy a position, you will receive the appropriate sell recommendations in the following days with the recommended target price. Should this be adjusted, we will also send an update.

Practical example

For MOUNT Germany 100 you see several signals in the table "Latest trading signals". With a portfolio of 10.000 EUR this would mean, that you need to place a limit buy order of "Deutsche Post AG" stock for a total of 1/10th of your portfolio at a price 38.1 EUR, in this case, 1000 EUR, or (1000/38.1 = 26 stocks). Also, you would need to create a limit sell order for all shares of "Beiersdorf AG" in your portfolio at a price of 142.3 EUR.

Note: depending on the stock exchange, on which the shares are listed, the currency of the prices and hence signals will vary. This is provided in the Portfolio description as a "Currency" parameter.

  • The stocks of American companies (e.g. MOUNT US Tech 100 portfolio) are provided in USD.
  • The stocks of German companies (e.g. MOUNT Germany 100 portfolio) are provided in EUR.
  • If you are trading the stocks of a German company (e.g. Henkel) on an American stock exchange, then you need to consider the difference between the signal prices in EUR and the stock value in USD.

Once you finished placing orders, you may need to validate, whether your current portfolio is the same as the list table "Open Positions", that you will find for each of the portfolios on the same page.

FAQ

How to calculate the amount of shares that need to be bought or sold?

  • The answer is simple: each portfolio has a maximum amount of positions specified on its page: e.g. MOUNT Germany has 10, ARROW Germany 40 portfolio has 5 as a maximum number of positions.
  • If your total portfolio is 10.000 EUR, then for MOUNT Germany the investment per position shall be 1.000 EUR and for ARROW Germany 40 it will be 2.000 EUR per position.

Can I trade something other than shares (e.g. Futures, Options, CFDs)?

  • Sure, all derivates may be traded based on the signals for the underlying stocks. In case you're using leverage, be aware of the additional risks related to the price volatility.
